In the Search for Happiness

Practice Happiness to be Happy ........

It's not always easy to be happy and at times in our life it's not appropriate but Happiness can be a skill that is learnt.

Look around you when you are with others and observe how they are doing something nice for themselves and enjoy their happiness, smile to yourself and practice being supportive to their experience, say to yourself 'I'm glad you are enjoying yourself' 'good for you, its good to see you looking after yourself.

Manage your negative self - talk

We all struggle at times with our self talk but we now recognise how damaging our critical self judgements can be and this needs to be stopped. Monitor your narrative and when its is over critical stop it in its tracks and replace your thoughts activly with positive thoughts thinking about what you like about yourself.

Manage your judgements of others.

It can be very easy to be judgemental of others, criticising being sarcastic or disrespectful but when we practice this behaviour it affects us, poisoning and undermining our wellbeing. When you notice communicating this way hold your thoughts and tongue, breath deeply and restrain yourself. You will feel much better for it.

Balance your 'nervous system'.

Stress and anxiety are more and more prevelent in todays fast pace of life. Take time out to relax, letting your body and mind be in the moment, make time for yourself throughout your day, practice mindfully breathing, complete a body scan and relax your muscles, let tension slip away.

Pratice this often each day and it will help.

Look for the 'Good'.

Daily we hear bad news, negativity can make you feel negative. It can draw you in to look for more bad news as it feeds our 'nervous systems'. Actively seek out and pay attention to 'good moments', as we practice our observations we fire up new neural pathways, hardwiring our brains to appreciate 'good moments' and enjoy them.
